Is it a cat? Is it a helicopter? No, it’s both

Many people like cats. Not as many as like dogs I suspect, since the latter are more loyal and generally affectionate, nonetheless they can make a fine pet. A smaller number of people like helicopters since they are inconveniently large and noisy, not to say expensive. Still, it was probably inevitable that someone would think of combining these two.

Step forward, Orville. Orville is (or was) a cat, the pet of a Dutch artist Bart Jansen. Orville, you may have guessed,  was named after the Wright brother. Sadly Orville’s life ended prematurely courtesy of someone else’s car.  Jansen decided to keep Orville alive, so to speak, by converting him into a remote controlled helicopter. I see a lot of possibilities arising from this innovation involving other primate species perhaps…
