The Irish as gamblers

I came across this interesting graph from the Economist which measures gambling across countries (measured as losses per capita). As you can see Australia & Singapore are way ahead of everyone else but, interestingly, Ireland comes in next. Of course what this presumably does not take into account is the enormous gambles that individuals, companies and indeed the government were taking on the bubble not bursting. That might push us up these particular rankings.
